"I want to be able to take your back yard view and the peaceful atmosphere back to North Carolina." - C & J
Looking for a bed and breakfast with a relaxed friendly atmosphere? A place where hospitality reigns, but is not intrusive? Somewhere away from all the chaos and traffic noise? A retreat with fresh air, surrounded by nature's bounty and easy access to the many attractions Tucson and Arizona have to offer?
A Hagenah Bed and Breakfast is just such a retreat.
Cable TV, Internet access, delicious breakfast and a host of other amenities are included with your stay. Be sure and check out the pages for the various guest accommodations. If you are just planning your trip to Tucson, you'll find a lot of attractions listed on the "In the Area" page.
A Hagenah B and B is located just minutes from the entrance to the Saguaro National Park East. The area, zoned to limit the number of houses, is a transition area from urban living to the National Park. Much of the landscape on these 1 acre lots is left natural so the local wildlife can co-exist with the homeowners.
A Hagenah B and B is situated on the crest of a hill just off the Broadway and Houghton intersection. From its elevated vantage point, you get a gorgeous view of the Santa Catalina Mountains from the backyard.
"Many thanks for a lovely time with you at your B & B. The guest house was so comfortable - you attend to every detail! We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and treats. Your view of the mountains and all the wildlife is fabulous! And you were so gracious to visit with us and help us around Tucson. We have fallen in love with the area and hope to be back soon. Blessings on you and your home and your ventures. - J & R
July through August you can witness the beauty of cactus in bloom. Teddy bear cholla, prickly pear, pin cushion, barrel, hedgehog, jumping cholla, staghorn cholla and pancake cactus all grow in the natural portion of the backyard. Even the cactus love it here. Notice the heart shaped bloom that grew on this cactus!

If you're lucky and keep a watchful eye at dusk and dawn, you may catch some of the local wildlife in the area. Your hosts, Sherry and Rich, have been visited by owls, bobcats, coyotes, javelinas, and foxes. Of course the more common wildlife, squirrels, gophers and rabbits, appear on a regular basis. Throughout the day keep your eyes peeled for a host of different birds that frequent their back yard, such as Phainopepla, Pyrrhuloxia, Roadrunner, Mockingbird, Oriole, Curved Bill, Gambel's Quail, Cardinal, Mourning Dove and Cactus Wren (the AZ state bird). Occasionally you might even see a Great Horned Owl or a Red-tailed Hawk. Since Sherry keeps the hummingbird feeder stocked, you will see a variety of hummingbirds as well. Thanks to Susan Leichliter, a guest, for contributing the bobcat photos in the wildlife slideshow.

There are comfy seats on the back patio and around the pool as well as a picnic table. All perfect places from which you can watch the animals and birds. Also great places to kick back and read a book or relax and soak in some sunshine.
While the backyard is a great place to just hang out and watch the world go by in peace and quiet, sometimes you need a little activity. There is a terrific pool and paths to walk around the area. You can also stroll down the streets in this quiet neighborhood.
As the day winds down and dusk approaches, plan on being around to catch the sunset. If there is a bit of cloud cover to the west the sky becomes a wash of reds, yellows and golds. Sunsets here are absolutely phenomenal! A Hagenah Bed and Breakfast won an award for the best sunset view.
